Michael Bychowsky – Former Director of Analytics Products at Harman InternationalMike has over 25 years of experience in a wide variety of roles, spanning the business functions of several corporations. His journey has taken him from developing deeply embedded DSP algorithms for the initial iDEN/Nextel system, to the successful roll out of Motorola's Mass Market Portfolio in the North America Markets and recently leading the Harman Analytics Automotive Products and Data Monetization Initiative. This diverse set of experience across many functional areas has given Mike a unique perspective on how to develop products, systems and drive innovation.
Mike has BS in Electrical Engineering and an Executive MBA from Northern Illinois University, and has completed several post graduate programs from Kellogg Graduate School of Management and Villanova University. Mike also has completed his NPDP certification through PDMA.
Maureen Nail – Director, Competitive Intelligence at PfizerMaureen has 10+ years of experience in the pharma industry, with the last 5 as a Competitive Intelligence professional in consulting and at pharma companies. She currently leads the CI group for Pfizer’s Essential Health (PEH) business unit. This is the 3rd CI function that she built from the ground-up. As the CI Lead for PEH, she provides competitive insights and analysis to drive operational and strategic decisions for Pfizer’s generic and biosimilar assets. She is also continually exploring innovative tools and approaches to improve how competitive insights are gathered and analyzed at Pfizer. Maureen has a PhD in Cell Biology, a MBA in Managing Innovation and obtained a Master of Competitive Intelligence Professional certification (CIP-I and II).
Kylan Nieh – Senior Product Manager at LinkedInKylan Nieh is Head of Product for Resume Assistant & Sourcing at LinkedIn, where he leads products that help candidates find and land their dream job. Since starting at LinkedIn in 2013, Kylan has worked on a variety of products, including LinkedIn Students, Marketing Solutions Products, and Data Products.
Outside of his role at LinkedIn, Kylan is incredibly passionate in helping students reach their fullest potential and meet their individual goals. Kylan is also the Founder & CEO of Scholarpaths, a mentorship program that helps students discover career paths, gain clarity, and take the right steps to launch a successful career.
Kylan graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 2014 with degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration at the Haas School of Business, where he was the first undergraduate student to be awarded Teacher of the Year for his work as a Graduate Student Instructor. He was a U.S. Olympic Torchbearer for the 2012 London Olympic Games and acknowledged by Forbes in 2017 as a 30 Under 30 in Enterprise Technology.
Andria Long – VP Innovation & Consumer Insights at Johnsonville SausageAndria is a transformational innovator who has successfully driven strategic growth at 5 Fortune 1000 companies in the intensely competitive CPG space across food, beverage and personal care. She has a proven track record of sustainable in market success at top tier CPG companies like Sara Lee, Kellogg’s/Keebler, and Kimberly Clark.
She has continued to synthesize her learnings and best practices and developed her own proven approach that quickly identifies opportunities by understanding insights in the rapidly changing consumer, competitive, and industry landscape.
Currently, she is reporting to the CEO as Vice President of Innovation and Consumer Insights at Johnsonville where she built their new Innovation Center in downtown Chicago. Most recently she is responsible for Johnsonville’s expansion from only sausage to flame grilled chicken.
Prior to Johnsonville, Andria was the Vice President of Innovation & Strategy at Sara Lee during the transformation where she unleashed the potential of legacy brands through true innovation.
Roy Barnes – President Blue Space Consulting; Customer Experience and Performance Management Expert; Former SVP at Marriott Vacation Club International; Author of “Customer Experience 365”Roy has more than 25 years of experience leading work teams and delivering world class results in both the profit and non-profit sectors. During Roy's executive committee role at Marriott Vacation Club International, the company's revenue grew from $400M to $2.5B over six years. As Senior Vice President for Customer Experience Development, Roy managed the introduction and execution of multiple process and strategy management tools that focused MVCI on building a sustainable operating and strategic infrastructure. In the non-profit sector, Roy helped several of the nation's oldest conservation organizations with operation and development strategic planning, leadership team alignment and goal setting. Brian Winters – Design Research Lead at InzovuKnown as “Captain Empathy”, Brian Winters is a customer experience researcher and strategist with two decades of experience in understanding people. He has worked with start-ups to Fortune 500 firms and organizations designed for social good.
Brian helps his clients to develop organizational empathy for their customers and cross-collaborate to drive innovation in the customer experience. He also teaches design team maturity and research skills to CX teams of all sizes.
Adam Pierno – Chief Strategy Officer at SantyTeacher. Mentor. Strategist. Innovator. Author. All are terms you could use to identify Santy's Chief Strategy Officer Adam Pierno.
The highly caffeinated Pierno has introduced a variety of new tools to uncover real insights on customer habits, which Santy has used to build precise strategies for numerous client campaigns. He also has been instrumental in building Santy’s change driven culture where he helps guide clients to ignore the change that won’t work and focus on the change that will.
Prior to joining Santy, Pierno leveraged his knowledge of consumer behavior to produce informed and effective campaigns for such national brands as Delta Air Lines, Dial Corporation, Domino’s Pizza, Dunkin' Brands and Mercedes-Benz.
His first book “Under Think It” delves into the foundational aspects of marketing strategy. He was inspired to pen this insightful guidebook to fill a void in strategy training curriculum.
Outside the office, Pierno enjoys relaxing with his wife and kids and claims to generate his best ideas while running.
Jason Ulaszek – Founder and Principal at InzovuJason Ulaszek is the founder and principal of Inzovu, an international organization founded to tackle and solve social problems through design. Most recently, Inzovu has applied disciplines ranging from architecture, service design, design research and brand strategy to complex challenges proposed by the University of Southern California School of Social Work and the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Previously, Jason has worked with some of the biggest and most influential brands in the United States, including Allstate, Cardinal Health, Kohl’s and Mattel, helping them identify new business opportunities to improve brand awareness, customer experience and engagement.
He is also a founder and director of UX for Good, an award-winning social venture that leverages experience design to solve social challenges. In the past three years, UX for Good has partnered with the Dalai Lama Center for Peace + Education to advance social-emotional learning in public schools; with Aegis Trust to boost the impact of genocide memorials in Africa and Europe; and with the GRAMMY Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative to raise the standard of living for professional musicians in New Orleans.
Jason is an instructor and mentor at the Junto Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, a B-school for founding teams of fast-growing companies, where he teaches and advises on customer experience and experience design. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Masters program at DePaul University where he teaches consulting and design professionalism skills to next generation experience designers.
Bill Myers – VP of Corporate Strategy and Product Management at ISCO InternationalBill Myers has over 20 years of experience developing and creating new businesses and products. His combination of customer/market focus, business sense and engineering acumen enable him to drive successful new products and solutions into technology markets.
Bill has held a variety of technical and business roles in research, innovation and intellectual property, product development, product management, marketing, business development, competitive intelligence and strategy at Motorola and BlackBerry. In his current role at ISCO International, Bill leads product management, marketing and corporate development. Bill has an MS in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Chris Okamoto – Associate Partner of Strategy & Design at InfosysChris is Associate Partner of Strategy & Design at Infosys where he focuses on infusing design thinking with extreme engineering to solve for disruption and innovation. Chris co-founded an interactive learning company, is an advisor for multiple organizations, and active speaker. His experience spans digital and physical design leveraging virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and rapid prototyping to deliver practical agility.
Derek Johnson – Chief Executive Officer at Aurora WDCAs Chief Executive Officer of Aurora WDC, Mr. Johnson spends most of his time guiding the overall strategy of the business and directing the firm’s external consulting opportunities with clients. Prior to this promotion in March 2010, he served the prior seven years as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Research with the firm. Prior to joining Aurora in 2003, Mr. Johnson was in the Investment Management industry as an account and portfolio manager. He serves as Wisconsin’s SCIP chapter chair, was Program Chair of the 2009 SCIP International Conference, and is a SCIP Catalyst Award recipient.
Phil Britton – Strategic Business Insights Leader at Sedulo GroupPhil Britton is Strategic Business Insights Leader with Sedulo Group, a competitive intelligence consultancy focusing on primary intelligence gathering. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of research projects, from scoping client needs, conducting primary research and delivering meaningful insights. Phil has over 15 years of competitive intelligence experience, including managing CI teams at Best Buy and Ulta Beauty, two leading specialty retailers. Phil's internal clients ranged from store staff to the C-suite. Phil has 25 years of experience in the retail industry and has dabbled in pricing, competitive research, competitive analytics, strategic planning, marketing, market research, and consumer insights since 2000. Phil is a highly-rated speaker and facilitator on CI topics since 2009. Phil resides outside of Chicago.
Judith Schieve – Competitive Intelligence ExpertJudy Schieve most recently provided advanced competitor and market intelligence for Motorola Solutions’ Products and Services Organization. She transformed the competitive intelligence role at Motorola Solutions into a dynamic function that is a key part of defining the product roadmap and shaping executive decisions. Judy has been featured in Motorola Solutions Competitive Intelligence Video Series, which provides the latest competitive intelligence and bidding strategies to help support global sales enablement.
Judy also has held a variety of leadership roles in strategy and product management. She has successfully led teams that executed new product launches, including a 3-level supply chain certification program in 4.5 months and a cellular enclosure product that achieved $40M in its first year. She also played a key role in structuring and implementing a new sales division that served 15% of Motorola’s customer base.
She holds a BSEE from the University of Illinois, and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
John Barker – Former VP of Strategy and Competitive Intelligence at Wolters KluwerJohn Barker is the Former Vice President of Strategy & Competitive Intelligence in Wolters Kluwer’s Global Platform Organization. In this role, John provided a strategic direction for Wolters Kluwer’s global tax, legal, and regulatory content delivery platform, Global Atlas, and shared strategic product design best practices globally across Wolters Kluwer. John has an extensive background in professional publishing, including as a Product Manager and Executive Legal Consultant at LexisNexis, and a consultant, and award-winning Account Manager for Thomson Reuters. John holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Tulane University Law School, New Orleans, a Master of Science in Regulatory Compliance from Northwestern University, and a BA in Philosophy, magna cum laude, from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. John recently achieved the status of Certified in Health Care Privacy Compliance (CHPC).
Arik Johnson – Founder and Chairman at Aurora WDCArik Johnson is Chairman of Aurora WDC, the intelligence advisory firm he founded in 1995. After stepping aside as CEO in late 2009, today Arik serves as Managing Director and lead architect at Aurora’s R&D lab, think tank network and intelligence policy institute, the Center for Organizational Reconnaissance (COR). Arik is a Fellow of the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals society and has chaired SCIP’s annual international conference (2006), served on SCIP’s board of directors (2004 – 2006), won SCIP’s Catalyst award (2005), and served as a chapter coordinator, as well as, trustee and development committee chair of the CI Foundation.
